Vegetable Gardening
To keep the vegetable garden going, we recommend Medina’s Hasta Gro, along with Garden-ville’s greensand, Nature’s Guide lava sand, Nature’s Guide Tomato and Pepper food, and Maxicrop’s seaweed, to provide the many nutrients needed for a bountiful harvest. We also stock bags of fully composted chicken manure that produces excellent results in the garden. We carry Carl Pool soft rock phosphate and bone meal for planting bulbs.
Bamboo Trellises: Beautiful, Useful and Reusable!
At Reid’s Nursery we now have sturdy bamboo trellises that provide support for climbing plants like beans, cucumbers, ornamental vines and much more. The tepee-style trellises are made with four poles of 7-foot-long bamboo, firmly joined at the top, and are not only strong but very attractive in the garden. One of the best things is the fact that after you’re done with it, you can easily put it away at the end of the season, ready for the next gardening adventure.
Large Projects
For those large gardening projects, we carry 3.8 cubic ft. bags of Ferti-lome sphagnum peat moss, 4.4 cubic ft. bags of vermiculite, 4.4 cubic ft. bags of perlite and 40 pound bags of Nature’s Guide Expanded Shale, along with smaller bags of perlite and vermiculite.
Pest Control
We have Nature’s Guide Fire Ant killer and Nature’s Guide diatomaceous earth. Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew, with Spinosad, will help control borers, caterpillars, beetles and other pests in your organic garden. Nature’s Guide Mosquito Repellent ready-to-spray will keep your backyard free of mosquitoes, chiggers, gnats and other annoying flying insects for up to three weeks. It contains citronella and is kid, pet and planet friendly.
Of course, we always carry soil testing information packets, certified organic seeds from High Mowing, gardening books, plant and wildlife guides, garden art, tiled pots and hummingbird feeders and cleaning brushes. We have decorative and useful rain gauges and bird feeders as well as fruit feeders, for the birds that like a bit of orange and apple in their diet!
